Serve in Our Community

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

The Gathering Place is only one part in God’s very large kingdom, and it only makes sense to work with others who have been given related tasks within his kingdom.

Schools

In the fall of 2006, several church leaders met with the principal of Truman Elementary and asked a simple question: How can we do things better together?
Since then we have served as lunch buddies, tutors, and at events like curriculum nights and school carnivals. Once a month we serve espressos, teas, and hot chocolates to onsite staff.
The partnership with Truman provided a model for partnerships with other schools. We currently have relationships with Minnehaha, Hazel Dell, and Anderson Elementaries, as well as Fort Vancouver High School.

The Portland Rescue Mission

Healthy relationships are essential to recovery, so once a month we serve a meal, enjoy conversation, and worship together with the residents at the Portland Rescue Mission’s recovery homes.
We enjoy breakfast with the men of The Harbor on the first Saturday of each month and dinner with the women at Shepherd’s Door on the second Saturday of the month. Fill out the contact form below and we'll connect you with those serving at PRM.

River City Church

The Gathering Place is partnering with church planters Ryan and Clarissa Sidhom, the North American Mission Board, and the Northwest Baptist Convention to replant a church near downtown Vancouver. It is our privilege to support the Sidhoms as they lead River City to serve their community, develop relationships, and establish a self-supporting congregation in the area.
