Our Pastor Search

The Gathering Place, a church founded in 1987 in Vancouver, WA, is seeking a senior pastor to lead our congregation of one hundred. This committed core of experienced believers is ready for a new start after a difficult five years that has included a facility transition, Covid, and two leadership transitions. The church is committed to the authority of Scripture and has a strong history of active community engagement under two long-tenured pastors. We are affiliated with the Northwest Baptist Convention but will partner with anyone of like mind, who loves Jesus, to expand His kingdom.

Pastor Search Timeline

  • August 21, 2024: Austin, Ashleigh, and AdaLee arrive in Vancouver
  • Late August or early September: Austin and his family will move to Vancouver, WA to lead The Gathering Place in the next phase of its ministry!
  • July 21, 2024: The Gathering Place meets Austin, votes unanimously to ask him to be their senior pastor, and Austin accepts. Yay!!
  • July 20-21, 2024: Candidate preaches in view of a call
  • June 16-17, 2024: In Person Interview with Top Candidate
  • May 15, 2024: Interviews with top candidates begin
  • April 2024: Search Committee reviewing resumes
  • April 15, 2024: Deadline for resume submissions
  • March 2024: Church, Community, and Pastor Profiles Published - Begin Receiving Resumes
  • December 2023: The Committee meets to begin the work
  • November 2023: Committee members selected by the Board
  • October 2023: The Board receives committee nominees from the congregation
